    Chester Carlton introduces the world to Electrophotography

    In 1938 New York patent attorney Chester Carlson made history when he created the world’s first “photocopy” using a process he termed “Electro Photography”. The machine that enabled him to do so was the original Xerox machine, nicknamed “10 – 22 – 38 Astoria”, a sulphur-coated zinc plate and light which created mirror images of a microscope slide.
